No, No, No,  I got one when I was sick and ended up with Polymyalgia Rheumatica for 1 1/2 years--I have nothing else to blame it one and my dr said I should not have gotten one while ill.

Don't get the flu shot if your immune system is compromised or taxed at all.  I got one toady while i had a cold and now I have mega flu symptoms, head ache, fever, muscle aches etc.. I am an endurance athlete and my resting hear rate is 48.  It is now 74 and I feel like *&%$#%,  and I hardly ever get anything more than a cold.  I did not have a fever, which is the protocol.  I do now and I missed half a day of work. ($250) and who knows if I will be able to go in to morrow.

I got the flu in 2002 and it was terrible, so I do get shots every year.  My advice, wait a week until you immune system is intact, for most people it is a good idea to get it.  I feel incrementally better now which is why I am writing this, but I am headed to bed and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

I went to get my flu and pneumonia shots (at a pharmacy ) and was asked if I had a fever, I replied "I have the chills, I am not sure" I was given the shots and what a mistake, I got an infection due to the fact that I was already with fever, my dr was not happy that I was given the shots and I have missed 3 days of work, have been taking heavy duty antibiotics to fight this infection. Now I wonder, is my shot still going to work? I will never do this again if I suspect any fever/illness

You can have the flu shot if your sick, just not with a fever.

I know this post is already 10 years old but I have been searching for an answer and finally found it on here, thank you all for the interesting info, I am at the moment recovering from "Community Acquired Pneumonia", caused by an exacerbation of Emphysema, spent a few days in hospital and I know it's going to take me a little while for a full recovery, I was due for a flu shot but will definitely wait until I see the lung specialist in 2 weeks time, thanks.
