I moved my mother into an ALF earlier this year. Due to my own medical issues I don't get over there as often as I should.

My cousin called me today to let me know they haven't been washing her hair regularly because she refuses. Apparently her scalp is in bad shape. She apparently refuses regular showers. She is scheduled for 2 showers a week, I thought it was more, but frequently let it go at one.

When I called to speak with them I found out my mother regularly is mean, harassing the staff, denegrades them and is difficult.

I know there was one incident a few months ago where she was mean, but I had no idea it was so chronic. They never made it a point of telling me.

What do I do? Move her?

Perhaps you've solved by now.
I would call someone in charge if you can't visit in person. And ask a lot of questions. Get them to talk about the challenges they face in caring for your mother. You need more information. One would think they are trained and knowledgeable about dealing with difficult residents.
