tsfdm, TY for that article.. very interesting...We associate certain odors with memories of events..Perhaps it is the whiff of certain drugs being released, imbalances of the metabolic system, internal decay...but if we noticed it once, it is forever linked with an event.
@ Catt, I do think that some people are especially perceptive..Possibly they have a life style that doesn't dull sense of smell..they may not even recognize that they "smell" what alerts them..then we call it a 6th sense, but maybe it is just better olefactory senses.
Then again, with experience, comes an ability to "interpret" what our senses perceive. Mom's hospice social worker visited many different people in various stages of "shutting down" and there were a variety of conditions leading to this stage. She had experiences that most of us do not. I was fortunate that she shared that with me,,that she knew I wouldn't be reactionary.
