Can someone please explain why, after my daughter passed, (in the hospital) I could smell a very strong horrible smell. It was also thick. The smell was in my hallway at home. I was the only one that could smell it. I would say to my son, " can you smell it? Its right here!" I would walk right through it and stand there completely blown away by this. I can't describe it as I've never smelt this before. It lasted for about a month, I haven't smelled that oder again..

Dear Karin,

I'm just replying with compassion as I'm sure it was very painful to have your daughter pass away.

It's possible that you smelled a strong bodily emission in the hospital which is natural during and after death. My mother vomited a long stream of thick foul liquid quite a while after she passed when someone from hospice moved her. The image and smell made an impression on me, as you can see.

My advice would be that it's best not to worry about what exactly caused it, whether anyone else was aware of it, etc. Whatever it was, your daughter was most likely unaware of it and is at peace.

Yours warmly, ~Laura
