I have a question. First let me say I am sooooo glad I found this group. It just makes me feel less alone. So my mom is hospitalized because she hit her head twice after falling (no brain bleed) but also had a uti (which is cleared now) and has a very weak heart - I forget what it's called when the aortal valves are closing? In any case she's pretty weak and is in a rehab facility right now. So I guess she goes in and out of confusion. We don't know if she will get better or if this is the new normal. I have a question because I am so uncomfortable with her not being herself. She has always been just normal. No mental confusion. So when someone is in this state of in and out - when the person is acting normal - do they understand that they get confused? Can you bring it up to them when they are in a normal state of mind? I'm actually scared to talk to my mom when she's confused. I've avoided it. When I visited her last in the hospital she was pretty normal but when she got confused I kind of had to leave . It was too upsetting .
I'm just trying to figure out how to navigate this .
