Do you think it possilbe to have picked up something in the hospital during the biopsy that would have resulted in a boil? I have a slight sore throat, unlike the usual hoarseness, strained feeling and a 'lovely' boil and I did see mention of staph in an article with regards to boils. So I am wondering...could I have picked up something in doctor's office (which is connected to the hospital), maybe something that entered in the needle sites? I see surgeon Tuesday and do not have a fever or pain but I believe it might be wise not to have any surgery while I have this unresolved bump if you will.

Not only possible - unfortunately, these days increasingly probable. Infections acquired in medical facilities are a very widespread problem. Get it checked out ASAP!

I went through this many times with my daughter. What looked like a small pimple at first would turn into a big boil which would then be diagnosed as MRSA. Twice she ended up in the hospital for a week each time on IV antibiotics.

Please get yourself checked out immediately.

Kathy,

A couple a weeks after my dad went into the NH, I developed a abscess, which increased in size quickly. The doctor said I could have picked up staph at the NH. The doctor became concerned that I might have MRSA, so he placed me on two different oral antibiotics and I had to go to the office every other day for about 10 for antibiotic injections. Please see the doctor quickly, as staph can be very dangerous!

Sounds like this needs checking ASAP! Go to the Urgent Care or something right away! Neither MRSA or staph are anything to fool with. Please don't wait.

I have to agree with everyone else, it's probably related to something you picked up.  If you aren't seeing someone tomorrow about it, tell the surgeon on Tuesday and have him look at it (they are used to seeing things like this too) and he'll probably want to culture it so they know what's going on.

For sure, Maggie and I both picked up strange little red pimple type things at Box Hill Hospital some years ago when Bett had her first admission there. We still occasionally get what we call "hospital Nurfers"
