Hi Everyone,
I don't post much any more since Mom passed several years ago, but tonight Dad had a pretty bad fall, and I'd just appreciate any good thoughts you can send my way.  At first he seemed OK, but then some blood started collecting at the sight of his head bump, and suddenly we were at seizure, breathing tube, etc.  Scary, to say the least.  (Yes, he's in the best trauma hospital.)  The next head scan is scheduled for 6 hours from now, so perhpas its a good sign that they don't expect to find anything else going wrong before then.  On the other hand, it's hard to predict how any individual will react to things, particularly the elderly.  Trying to stay positive.  Thanks.

rachel, i'm sorry to hear about your dad's quick turn. how scary for you. if you don't mind, your dad will be in my prayers. if you are not a believer at least know that you are in our thoughts. please let us know what is happening. it is also nice that you thought of this place to come when you are feeling so shaken and in need of someone who cares to talk to. we are always here for each other.

Thanks Billie Jo.  Although I'm not a believer, I accept prayers - I consider them people wishing me well in the way that's most meaningful to them, and I appreciate them.  I knew that, more than anyone else, the folks here would understand and respond - as you might remember, my family is tiny.  Besides, some of us are ALWAYS up!

My sister has called again, and the blood drain went very well.  The neurologist said in about 2 days we should be able to see great improvement.  No mention of possible brain damage or anything like that, probably because they were right on top of it.  I can definitely keep my fingers crossed for a mere 2 days!  I suspect there will be depression tho - he spent most of the summer in rehab, and didn't get to enjoy the results very long before this happened.  One day at a time I guess...  TTYL

Just a quick update - Dad hasn't improved or declined.  He's only barely responsive, so the ventilator stays in.  Yesterday I was OK with being patient, but that's much harder on the 3rd day.  The neurologist says people don't stay at the condition he is - either they get better, or worse.  So of course the more time that goes by, the more likely it is to be "worse".  Still hoping for the best, but...

Rachel: Thanks for the update. I know what it's like to standby and watch someone on a ventilator. It's so difficult.

I'm believing with you and praying for a good report. Sorry Thanksgiving has to be like this, but perhaps there will be a definite improvement, and that will really be something to be thankful for!

Let us know when you know something! Big Hugs-(And Prayers) Sparkle
