My Mother has recently become my roommate. I had lived separately for 35 years. Only visiting on Sunday to take her to church.
Now she is upset that we do not have conversations daily like we did for 1 hour weekly.
It is becoming very stressful.
She is 85 and I am 55.
I am the youngest of 4.
She has her own health issues and uses a walker.

I am slowly losing the mother/ son relationship.

Help!

Hi, Welcome.   I feel the same way you do. Can you ask siblings to call regularly, and visit?

There has to be a better housing situation for her than your place. Have you tried every avenue for senior living or HUD programs, assisted living facilities...etc. etc.. etc...
I'd get her back to being as INDEPENDENT as possible. So that you have your "special days" set aside for mother-son days. It's really not fair to either one of you. Two completely different lifestyles trying to live under the same roof.

If you can't find her a place that can be covered by a program. I'd highly suggest getting her into group events for people her age so she can start to figure out what they've done to be independent at their age.   Sometimes (no matter what age we are) we just need new influences to inspire us to keep doing for ourselves.

Best of luck to you!
